THE FUNCTIONING OF THE TWO ANTIBIOTICS
AMOXICILLIN
Inhibits the formation of the bacterial wall
Penicillins, and in general all ß-lactamic antibiotics, inhibit the synthesis of the mucopeptide of the
bacterial wall. The trans-peptidase enzyme is inhibited, thus preventing the formation of the wall. In
this way, the outermost defence of the cell is eliminated and consequently, rapid cell destruction is
achieved.
GENTAMICIN
Inhibits protein synthesis in ribosomes
It acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of proteins in subunit 30S of the bacterial ribosomes, while at the
same time interfering in the deciphering of its genetic material. The result is a generalized breakdown
of the vital cell functions, including the loss of integrity of the cell membrane and eventually leading to the lysis of the bacteria.
The combination of the two antibiotics improves the therapeutic properties of each of them when administered separately.

LESS RESISTANCE
(compared to the two antibiotics separately)
FEWER SIDE EFFECTS
The bacterial wall altered by Amoxicillin
allows Gentamicin to penetrate better into the bacteria,
exerting its effect with smaller doses.
The association of amoxicillin with gentamicin (GENTAMOX) has a larger antimicrobian spectrum.

PARTICLE SIZE
Comparison of the average diameter of the particles of various similar drugs.
Only the medical research facilities and the manufacturing
technology of a market leader like Hipra make it possible to
obtain perfect micronization.
ADVANTAGES AND BENEFITS:
- Excellent syringeability = Easy to inject
- Slow to form a sediment = perfect redispersion
- Homogeneity = precise dosages
- Stability (up to 30 days after first use) = safety
- Maximum bioavailability (rapid absorption and distribution) = therapeutic effectiveness

80 calves: Gentamox 5 ml / intremuscularly x 3 days
Control group: 30 calves Tylosin (100mg), Sulfametoxazole
(125mg) and Trimethoprim (25mg) 6ml x 3 days. |
Percentage Mortality due to pneumonia:
Conclusion:: GENTAMOX is eective in calves suffering from problems relating to pneumonia
and when used to avoid the risk of secondary bacterial infections arising from a primary viral infection.

Conclusion:: GENTAMOX is eective for the prevention of sub-clinical mastitis which
subsequently develops into the clinical form. It is also shown to be very eective in therapy of
clinical mastitis, thus improving the state of health of the herd, and also its production of milk.

GENTAMOX
Amoxicillin and gentamicin, in injectable suspension
COMPOSITION PER ML:
Amoxicillin trihydrate 150 mg; Gentamicin (sulphate) 40 mg; Oil
excipient q.s
INDICATIONS:
Swine: Pneumonia, Colibacillosis, Metritis, Diarrhoea, Bacterial enteritis and Mastitis.
Cattle: Pneumonia, Diarrhoea, Bacterial enteritis, Mastitis, Metritis and Cutaneous abscesses.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION:
Intramuscular.
DOSAGE:
Swine: 5 to 10 ml /adult animal/day ; and 1 to 5 ml /young animal/day.
Cattle: 30 to 40 ml /adult animal/day; and 10 to 15 ml /calf/ day.
Generally, administer 1 ml/10 kg b.w / day, for 3 days. When large volumes are administered, e.g. cattle, it is advisable to inject the volume at two inoculation sites to favour absorption.
OVERDOSE:
In the case of an intoxication due to an overdose, discontinue treatment and administer a symptomatic therapy. To avoid this type of problem, do not administer more than 3 ml/10 kg b.w.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
Meat: 30 days.
Milk: 2 days (4 milkings).
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
-Shake vigorously before use. If the bottle has been allowed to
stand for some time , a separation of the product into two phases
may occur. It will be easily resuspended after agitation.
- Store in a cool place, protected from light.
