HIPRA organizes a new edition of RespiSessions focused on prevention and control of Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex

From October 21 to 22, HIPRA held a new edition of HIPRA University Respisessions in headquarters and the HIPRA Campus in Aiguaviva. The event gathered around 40 veterinarians from across Europe to attend the presentations of renowned experts in the prevention and control of pathogens associated with Porcine Respiratory Disease Complex (PRDC)

The course began with a presentation by Dr. Quim Segalés (UAB) on PRDC and strategies for its diagnosis. Carlo Lasagana (Martini Group) shared data on field experiences in Italy with the control of the most virulent variants (PRRSV). Followed by Tiago Nunes who provided further data based on HIPRA's experiences in Europe in controlling PRRSV.

Respisessions October Group

Isaac Ballarà (HIPRA) gave a presentation on Swine Influenza Virus (SIV) control, sow vaccination and cross protection. Sergi Brugera (HIPRA) continued with a presentation on the Epidemiology of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae in sows and how to optimize vaccine efficacy

To conclude the presentations session of the first day, Juan Hernández (HIPRA UK) offered a presentation about managing the bacterial component of PRDC. Ramon Jordà (HIPRA) shared the latest IA diagnostic technologies (AI Diagnos) for CRP control. To round off the day, the participants had the opportunity to visit the HIPRA facilities in Amer.

The second day opened with a presentation by Marta Cabetas (Vall Companys), who focused on how to obtain high-quality piglets. Juan Grandía (Piensos Costa) followed by sharing his knowledge on managing pigs during the growth and fattening phases. In the following presentation by Giampietro Sandri (Consultant in Italy) he focused on quarantine and the adaptation of first-time sows.

The course concluded with the presentation of Anna Romagosa (PIC) focused on the important role of biosecurity. And Joan Escobert (Confort Porcino) shared this expertise about the innovations in ventilation

With this action, HIPRA reinforces its commitment to a more efficient and sustainable swine production. The company will continue to create professional meetings that encourage the exchange of experiences, innovation and the implementation of good practices in animal health.
