HIPRA Indonesia celebrates the Poultry Immunology Class 2023 on Salmonellosis with more than 100 participants

HIPRA Indonesia organized the Poultry Immunology Class – Salmonellosis on December 6th 2023, responding to farmers' concerns regarding Salmonellosis cases and control which are also related to the issue of poultry and poultry products exports.

The event gathered together more than 100 participants from the key poultry producers and government officers in Indonesia and invited poultry practitioners from the breeding and layer segments as well as government parties related to Salmonella testing. The first speaker was Dr. Dalmi Triyono as chairman of the Indonesian Poultry Veterinary Association who discussed the development of Salmonella in Indonesia as well as control and monitoring efforts that require cooperation between the government, breeders and product supply companies.

Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Teguh Wibawan explained that Salmonella vaccination is one of the efforts to achieve "Salmonella Clean" in Indonesia, which is also in collaboration with the government. Dr. Syafrison Idris, from the Indonesian Directorate of Animal Health, said that the government is focusing on controlling Salmonellosis and is currently in the stage of preparing Draft Technical Guidelines for Surveillance for Salmonella Pullorum and Salmonella Enteritidis.

Dr. Santiago de Castro presented the reasons why vaccination with both live and specially killed vaccines is crucial to reduce the prevalence of Salmonella and increase the added value of poultry Salmonella free products. Dr. Ong Shyong Wey presented the Practical control of Salmonella to provide an insight for the Salmonella control experience in Southeast Asia. The results of the Avisan Secure trial in Indonesia were presented by Dr. Aditya Fuad Risqianto as a form of HIPRA's contribution to the Salmonella Clean program which have proven to reduce the prevalence of Salmonella in the field.

With this action, HIPRA reaffirms its commitment with the animal health and the poultry sector.

It is hoped that HIPRA Indonesia's collaboration with academics, government and breeders at this event can support the "Salmonella Clean" program and strengthen Avisan Secure as the leader of Salmonella vaccines in Indonesia and Asia.
