Following the success of the first edition, on March 5th and 6th 2024, HIPRA Indonesia held the second edition of the HIPRA Poultry Immunology Class, this time focused on avian coccidiosis. Surabaya, East Java, was the meeting point for over 50 poultry professionals from broiler, layer, and breeder sectors from various regions of Indonesia.

The event was also attended by academics from Airlangga University, represented by Prof. Dr. Lucia Tri Suwanti, drh., M.P., as a speaker. Her presentation addressed the importance of protecting chickens from avian coccidiosis due to the risk of reduced performance caused by intestinal damage.

On the other hand, Dr. Joan Molist Badiola, Global Product Manager at HIPRA, highlighted during his presentation that the high prevalence of coccidiosis cases is accompanied by an increasing pattern of anticoccidial resistance. A study on broilers in Indonesia shows high OPG values on farms with anticoccidial administration. Currently, vaccination has become a trend in coccidiosis control and is a tool to increase anticoccidial sensitivity.

Dr. Ong Shyong Wey, Regional Technical Marketing Manager at HIPRA, discussed coccidiosis control on breeding farms, emphasizing the importance of having strong and long-term immunity from the rearing period. Coccidiosis also affects fertility and egg production, so choosing the right coccidiosis vaccine is crucial. This was supported by the presentation of scientific evidence data obtained from studies performed in several cities in Indonesia and the performance of EVANT® and EVALON® use in Indonesia. These highly relevant data were presented during the event by Dr. Aditya Fuad Risqianto, Technical Service Manager at HIPRA Indonesia.

The second day consisted of a practical session on coccidiosis lesion analysis, in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Airlangga University. Participants appreciated the knowledge shared by experts regarding the diagnosis of coccidiosis in poultry.

With this initiative, HIPRA once again positions itself as a company committed to the continuous training of professionals in the poultry industry to strengthen coccidiosis control and improve the performance and profitability of producers.
