HIPRA Malaysia has collaborated with the Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM), the sole leading association representing farmers, to run a Salmonella Poultry Seminar on the 8th May.

There was a high level of attendance with 64 participants, mainly veterinarians such as Leong Hup, QL, Huat Lai, Lay Hong, CP etc.

The objective of the seminar was mainly to provide good coverage of Salmonella disease, biosecurity, experience sharing, vaccination and government policy.

The seminar started with an opening speech from the President of FLFAM, Datuk Jeffrey Ng Choon Ngee who gave insights into the latest issues faced by farmers.

The seminar began with a talk by Dr. Nik Mohd Faiz who presented the Salmonella pathogen and its importance in poultry production.

Dr. Keat Fu, Technical manager from Aviagen, talked about biosecurity and hygiene in Salmonella control. Both speakers went into detail about what salmonella is and how to prevent this disease in Malaysia.
