The biopharmaceutical company's investments in R&D and infrastructure exceeded €90 million last year

Girona, June 22, 2026 – The HIPRA Group closed the 2025 financial year with revenue of €516 million and a net profit of €53.9 million. Revenue increased by 17% compared to the previous year and represents the highest annual turnover achieved by the Group to date, consolidating its growth trajectory and international expansion.

In terms of operating results, EBITDA reached €125.2 million, reflecting HIPRA’s financial strength and its ability to continue driving new investments. In addition, the Group reduced its net debt by €12.3 million, bringing it to €145.5 million, equivalent to 1.16 times EBITDA.

This is the first time we have surpassed €500 million in revenue, a milestone that reinforces our model based on prevention and innovation”, said David Maldonado, HIPRA’s Chief Financial Officer.

The inauguration of Campus HIPRA and investment in R&D

Investment in state-of-the-art facilities and innovation projects is a fundamental pillar of HIPRA’s business model. During the past year, HIPRA strengthened its commitment to innovation and sustainable growth, allocating more than €62 million to R&D, equivalent to nearly 12% of its annual revenue. In addition, investments in infrastructure and production capabilities brought the company’s total investment effort to more than €93 million (18% of annual revenue). This investment effort consolidates a sustained growth trajectory, bringing total R&D investment since 2019 to €400 million.

The year 2025 is particularly significant for HIPRA due to the inauguration of Campus HIPRA in Aiguaviva, which complements the company’s headquarters in Amer, both located in Girona. The new facilities, with a planned total investment of €550 million and currently advancing toward Phase 2, aim to position the company as a leading biotechnology hub in Europe.

Human Health: prevention and strategic autonomy

The Human Health division, established in 2020 with the launch of the COVID-19 vaccine development program, achieved new milestones throughout 2025 as part of its consolidation process.

One of the most significant achievements was the adaptation, registration, and manufacturing of BIMERVAX® against the new circulating COVID-19 variant in 2025, followed by the signing of a Joint Procurement Agreement (JPA) with the European Union. Nine countries acquired doses of HIPRA’s COVID-19 vaccine during 2025, with Spain being the country that obtained and administered the highest number of doses.

In addition, in September 2025, HIPRA introduced SPEEDCELL, a four-year project co-funded by the EU aimed at accelerating the development and production of biological products, enabling a rapid response to health emergencies in line with the EU’s “100 Days Mission.” This new initiative complements the launch of HIPRA Biotech Services (HBS), the company’s new business unit specialized in contract development and manufacturing services (CDMO). In its first months of operation, HBS has already signed two contracts with European companies, confirming the potential of HIPRA’s scientific, technological, and industrial capabilities.

These developments come at a key moment for European biotechnology, marked by the strengthening of strategic autonomy in healthcare and the need for in-house innovation and manufacturing capabilities. For this reason, Carles Fàbrega, Managing Director of HIPRA’s Human Health division, stated: “The progress achieved during 2025 strengthens our confidence in the Human Health project; we are building capabilities and long-term positioning, and the results obtained confirm that we are moving in the right direction”.

Animal Health: an excellent year

The Animal Health division closed 2025 with significant sales growth, recording a 14.3% increase compared to 2024. Overall, it achieved an approximate 7.4% market share in the foodproducing animal segment. Eighty-eight percent of the division’s sales were generated internationally, with Europe remaining its main market. In addition, 2025 was the year in which HIPRA partnered with Elanco to bring two proprietary and unique vaccines against avian metapneumovirus (aMPV) to the United States in response to an emergency situation in that country.

By species, swine, poultry, and ruminants remain the three largest business areas, accounting for 94% of the Animal Health division’s revenue.

David Caballero, Managing Director of HIPRA’s Animal Health division and Global Business Lead in 2025, described the year as “excellent” in terms of sales and emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining its growth and internationalization strategy. “With a pipeline of more than 25 projects under development, we will continue strengthening our investment in innovation, prevention, and innovative services for veterinarians and farms”, he stated.

In the first months of 2026, HIPRA also received two major recognitions. At the beginning of the year, Spain’s Ministry of Industry awarded the company the ‘Bien Hecho en España’ (“Made Well in Spain”) prize for its contribution to strategic autonomy. More recently, HIPRA achieved the “Excellent” category in the Profarma 2025–26 program, promoted by the same ministry in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Science, Innovation and Universities. This recognition places HIPRA among the top ten companies in the sector in terms of industrial capabilities, R&D&I activity, public-private collaboration, quality job creation, export growth, social responsibility, and ecological transition efforts.
