Third theoretical and practical HIPRA UNIVERSITY course on Newcastle disease

The third theoretical and practical course on Newcastle disease provided by HIPRA UNIVERSITY took place on 5th and 6th June.

The theoretical part of the course was held in the Hotel Quinta Real in Puebla (Mexico), whilst the practical part took place at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla.

The course brought together important specialists in poultry production from various countries (Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Brazil, Spain and Ecuador), headed by Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Technical Marketing Manager, HIPRA Mexico, and José Luís Losada Torres, Corporate Product Manager for Newcastle disease at HIPRA.

This session dealt with practical aspects of the disease, such as identification of the lesions that are produced by Newcastle disease, their location inside the respiratory tract and organs involved and the extent of the damage caused.

The course was supplemented with practical examples and a review of the administration of attenuated live vaccines and inactivated vaccines against Newcastle disease via the different routes.

The course also included a practical demonstration of necropsies at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla.

This course is accredited by the CPD Certification Service (an independent accreditation service) and is part of the HIPRA UNIVERSITY continuing education programme that offers customised training solutions for veterinarians.

With this initiative, HIPRA strengthens its commitment to prevention, both in the area of Newcastle disease and of animal health.
