Rhinitis in itself is no more than an inflammation of the nasal mucosa. Therefore, Atrophic Rhinitis (AR) is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa with cellular lesions in the epithelium and in the bony base of the nasal turbinates, with atrophy of these and even deformation of the bones and anatomy of the snout.
