Florfenicol resistance: Escherichia coli
Florfenicol resistance: Escherichia coli
Colibacillosis affects pigs worldwide, and is considered a major health problem due to its pathogenicity. The disease involves a high economic impact due to increase in mortality, stunting, poor feed conversion, and additional costs due to medication. Vaccination and antibiotic therapies are commonly used for treatment and control of colibacillosis. However, the levels of resistance observed in E. coli to commonly used antibiotics, has been increasing over time in most pig rearing areas.
